Reviews Summary
People seem to have a mixed opinion about Photoshop Express Photo Editor, with many long-time users frustrated by features being moved behind a paywall and other technical issues, although some new users find it user-friendly and effective for basic editing tasks.
I've been using this app for years. At first they took away more and more features and made them premium. Now it won't let me remove the watermark unless I spam a bunch of people. Now it's a useless app. Sam β€οΈ I would just love it if you would contact me and we can discuss why a customer of 10 years was first offered to share your stupid app with a number of people to get that awful watermark taken off, and now that's not an option at all. Now you want me to pay to have any usable picture.
Developer response:
Hello! We apologize for any frustration caused by the app. While some features require a premium subscription, the watermark has been removed from the paid version. We also provide free editing tools and features. We aim to strike a balance between free and meet user needs. If you have any specific concerns or suggestions, please contact us. ^Sam
I wish there was 16:9 for vertical so I don't have to use the custom setting each time for the crop. Also the exposure don't work like the desktop Photoshop. It over exposes when I barely move the slider and it washes everything out like turning the contrast too high. I can't lighten the picture without it washing the highlights out even after lowering the highlights setting. Update: the exposure in Snapseed works as good as the exposure on the PC Photoshop. So why can't it be made to work?

Hi there, we understand the limitations in features as compared to the Photoshop desktop version. Photoshop Express is a mobile application only. Here is the link to help you with other tools: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/photoshop-express/get-started-android.html. Let us know if you need additional help. ^Sam
All this app does is filters and it's not as good as hundreds of other apps with filters. I can't actually edit an image. Looking on the top internet it seems it used to? But as of right now I can not select part of an image or copy a piece. It has no more functionality than the built in Google photos editing options.

Hi Derek, we appreciate your feedback about the app's current editing capabilities. Itβs disappointing to hear that you feel limited in your editing options compared to other apps. I love all the options, not all of them are free, but there's a lot more free selections than any other apps I've used like this, & there's also no ads at all. The only complaint I have is when making a collage, trying to zoom without rotating is irritatingly difficult af. There should be an option to fit/fill the pic to the frame like other apps have, if there was one I couldn't find it. Also not having the blue frame around ur selection in collage mode. It blocks the background.
Developer response:
Hi there, that would make a great feature request. Please click "Help and Feedback" from the mobile application and email us the request. Our development team monitors the email and may update it for future releases. ^Sam
While trying to crop an image, the interface didn't make it clear how to complete the crop, other than just to save the image. That simply ignores easily predictable user needs, which good apps never do. Then it took me to a screen in which it forced me to either share the app, or close it! Well, if you FORCE users to sell your app for you, then you're asking for a one star rating. Your request is granted.
Nov 2024: Collage is still useless. Bring back Mix. Garbage. I used Photoshop Mix almost exclusively to combine images, then they went and discontinued it. Express does NOT have the same capabilities. Even the collage feature is useless because it keeps chopping the edges off my images. And they want me to pay for premium when the app can't even meet my basic needs. Haha; no. Bring back Mix. Updated 8/16. Still garbage. You had no business removing Mix before adding full functionality to this.
Developer response:
Hi there, we apologize for any frustration caused by the transition from Photoshop Mix to Photoshop Express. We are working on bringing complete Mix features to our Android app. Some features are already available. The full Mix capability is on iOS, and we aim to achieve feature parity across platforms soon. ^Sam
Photoshop Mix used to be my main photo editing tool, that is, until it was discontinued without the ability to access the app at all, so you'd be forced to transition to this one. I can't access any of my old projects, and I don't feel safe using this one, knowing that I could lose all my projects if this one also gets discontinued at some point. Plus, it doesn't have the functionality of Mix even with premium it appears, no layer capability, and most features are locked behind a paywall.

Just one slice of the whole pie and leaves you wanting for more. Same with Light Room, PsE has features LR doesn't, but doesn't have features that LR has. Forcing you to use both, subscribing for both to even get those said features. Most features are redundant as well. Gone are the days of good software where a single copy of Adobe CS did everything and MORE than these apps combined do, on way older devices that were slower than our modern phones, without internet and without subscriptions...
Definitely not enough features. Very limited even the paid version. Phones now adays have all the basic stuff this has and you have to pay for it. It's like they split it up between photoshop and light room to get you to buy both. Won't re subscribe. All the features are basic. Who needs themes and stickers and draw on a photo editing app. This is for kids not the serious photographer looking to edit on mobile. Very disappointed. 100 a year for this is laughable. You can get the PC version4 that
If you're going to replace mix then at least put all it's features on here. There's no option to cut or make your own stickers on here. Please do it or bring back mix. Update 1/31/25: Still no noticeable improvements. The features from mix are still not on here either. The app has become useless, most features are locked behind a paywall. Garbage app.
