Reviews Summary
Overall, users have mixed feelings about Amazon Photos, with some appreciating the free unlimited storage and facial recognition features, while others criticize its frequent upload issues, lack of organization and customization options, and poor user interface.
The app was great, but lately it keeps giving me a notification saying my upload has paused and making me open the app to resume things. This seems to happen every 2-3 days. I want my uploads to just happen without having to "check in". Also, lately, I've been getting errors saying they were having a problem, but I don't know if that's related to the uploads pausing. UPDATE: Those errors have gone away, but I still get the annoying "Uploads paused" message. STOP PAUSING MY UPLOADS! -1 Star
App functions good, but there isn't much customization in the app compared to other photo / gallery apps. Not having the ability to automatically clear up local space on the device (such as Google photos) means that you will need to verify photos are uploaded before you can safely delete them off of your local storage. Other than that, app works great and quickly uploads media to Amazon. You can also toggle what type of media should be uploaded.
Works ok but the administrative stuff sucks. I changed my name and everything Amazon reflects that but for photos to have the correct name I need to contact Amazon and go through a lengthy phone tree, wait, etc.... there is no way to make it match your account name without calling Amazon directly. It's very annoying that this one part of the eco system isn't changeable by the user. Whatever, it's free back up and why does it matter if its easy to use. I almost feel like calling just to ...
It is still not the best photo app for storing photos. 1. It does not upload all of the photos and some it uploads, it shows there is a problem. 2. It will not upload any edited photos from my S23U, none. 3. The layout is not as intuitive as say Google Photos and easy to use. 4. No editing worth mentioning. 5. Why do I upload so that my Alexa devices can show the photos, but I get advertisements instead and have to tell Alexa to display my photos (but this is a different complaint).
When google or your phone says its out of storage and wants to charge you for it. This app comes in the clutch... also, the longer you have it, the more you'll realize how good it is.. it has facial recognition so if you want to look for a picture of a person that you took a long time ago you can search in people and find their face and it'll show you all the pictures of that person... you can type keywords like grass, or 2020, or mexico. It'll show you pics related to that keyword. its awesome
Can anyone from Amazon actually help with this problem? I can not see any of my photos going back years! I was about to have a lot of them printed but can't do it now. I don't know what's going on but it will not upload my new photos nor can I access storage. It keeps saying come back later but every time I go back to do it it won't upload 37 photos! I need an update or something for this because for some reason it's not working anymore. Please have someone reply to this? Thank you
They promised legacy accounts unlimited storage, then charge for over the limit. If you delete anything from here app will delete it from EVERYWHERE! You are not allowed to have a photo on your phone that the app doesn't have a copy. Kinda defeats the purpose of long term storage... REALLY poorly organized unless you spend day after day curating your own photos to be manageable.
I have this app on my Samsung Galaxy A14 5G, I like that I can save my pics in an album then connect the album/app to my tv so when my tv switches to the screensaver display it shows my pics & they look great!!! The only thing is I wish I could sort my pics & videos by album like I have them on my phone, by all the copies of the same items, by name and not just by date if I choose to. That would really make it easier to make other albums or delete copies of the same items. Thanks in advance!!!
Good luck getting your photos off this mess. The 'Droid app does NOT easily show what's stored, even while constantly reminding me that video storage is 5GB full. Try to explore what vids, "video folder empty"π€. Worst GUI ever. Slow, unresponsive, free, which I guess explains why it SUX! Get what you pay for. Now, if I could just get my vids off this lump, I'll not look back. Oh, I'm informed that the app is primarily to order easy photo prints(pay).πΈπΈπΈ
no threats of full storage. been my consistent, safe, from start of photo taking, saving resource that I 100% know can be relied on while other types freeze if full or delete important or valuable memories periodically. not with Prime photos. love it. thank you amazon. only con- wish there was a way to link or access my photos from Amazon to my phone without having to open seperate app and email them all.
