Reviews Summary
People have mixed feelings about ProShot; some appreciate its advanced manual controls and improved photo quality over stock apps, while others encounter frequent crashes, issues with specific phone models' features, and problems with saving photos and making adjustments.
Evaluator worked. But I wanted to do a time-lapse of the comet with cloud motion and environment. It said it could do up to 50 second exposure. I didn't need that but the native app can do 30 second. I needed about 10 second exposure. It kept erroring at 10 but worked at 8 second. I got 40 frames and now it won't do long exposure at all. Since it took more than two hours to discover the failure I'm now out the cost of a mostly useless app even as I'm discovering more failures.
Developer response:
Hello, I am very sorry to hear that. For longer shutter speeds, some devices have a "cooldown" period. If your timelapse interval does not account for this, the timelapse may stop running. Samsung actively blocks third party apps from accessing long shutter speeds, but in most cases ProShot can get around it. Finding max SHR on it requires testing.
Great, when it's not crashing ProShot takes some great images by getting out of the way, unlike modern AI-driven content mill phone camera apps. But that's when it works. Which is about 15% of the time in raw modes. It appears to have a real problem with writing to local storage. The worst thing in the world is spending time doing a setup then having it ruined by faulty software. My phone isn't cutting edge, but it's a SD888 with 8GB of RAM and 50% free disk space, so there's no excuse for it.

Hello, I am sorry to hear about the errors you're running into. Depending on the OS installed, Surface Duo phones may sometimes have compatibility issues with Android's camera API. If you're saving to a custom folder, try resetting to the default save location (by tapping on the save location button in the Settings menu). Hopefully that helps!
Completely useless, When shooting video the viewfinder and interface will flip due to the auto rotation. Turning off rotation on both the phone and inside the app does not fix this behavior. Completely worthless. Why would I ever want the orientation of my viewfinder to change WHILE FILMING!? I want a full refund or I'm going to charge back the purchase on my credit card and file a dispute with the better business bureau for false advertising.
Looking into this app as the OnePlus stock camera app is extremely laggy when exiting. ProShot seems good so far but on my OnePlus 11 it doesn't seem to switch to the 0.6x camera, and likewise the 2x camera doesn't seem to work (it just does digital zoom with the main camera, based on what I can tell with my finger over the lens). It has a button for the 0.6x but when I press it the image blurs for a second then returns to the 1x view it was already on.
Had this app for a while now and I love it. Been defaulting to it more lately as I'm tired of the Pixel 7 camera app's baked-in overprocessing, and I'm genuinely so impressed with how much better the photo quality is with ProShot. I like taking photos of the sky, and find they're so much more accurate with this app. I'm trying to get more familiar with using manual controls, and this has been the perfect learning opportunity. I'm genuinely having so much fun! Wish I could rate this higher π«Ά

Thank you, glad you're enjoying ProShot! π
I'm very happy with this app. I bought it because I wanted more pro controls than Google Camera gives on a Pixel 7a, and it definitely delivered. I was worried that as it isn't designed specifically for Pixel phones like the stock camera app, it might give lower quality images, but that hasn't been a problem. The UI was slightly complicated at first, but after watching the tutorial and using the app for a while, I would say its actually quite well designed for how many options it has.
I'm experiencing a problem with my Z Fold 5 using this photo app. When I open the camera, the screen displays a lot of wavy pixels, making it difficult to take photos. Strangely, the images turn out perfect once they are clicked and saved. I'm puzzled as to why the camera's screen display isn't clear, even though the final images are fine. Initially, I suspected there might be an issue with my phone, but I tried a different camera app and the screen appeared just fine.

Hello, I am sorry to hear about the error. Is it still happening in the latest version of ProShot? If so, please send me a brief screen recording of the error and I'd be glad to look into it! [email protected]
Needed a new video recording app. Demo worked well on my phone so I bought Proshot. I like 24 fps so I set my video to that - and the viewfinder froze when I hit record. Couldn't see what was recording. Developer got back to me in a day, helped me troubleshoot, figured out 30 and 60 fps will work. Not exactly what I want, but controls are good. Demo app should let you take a, few photos.
One of the BEST apps for Android on the market. We are using it on our Tripltek 8 Pro that has 21 Mp camera. Tried so many different apps and the quality of the photos/videos was simply sub-par. Once we paid and installed this app - it's absolutely a joy to use our tablet to take high-quality pictures and videos. Navigation is very simple and straight-forward. Support is AMAZING! We had an issue - they helped us to resolve it quickly! RECOMMEND! A+
App seems to work OK as a camera. However, it refuses to save photos to my SD card, instead only saving to the internal phone memory. It's really a pain in the backside to have to constantly find the new images and move them to the SD card manually. The app provides an unhelpful error message then doesn't save the photo unless I select internal storage.(Fixed!)

Hello, glad to hear its been fixed, thank you!
