Reviews Summary
People generally like Photographer's companion Pro, praising its extensive features, intuitive interface, and useful tools, though there are some minor criticisms related to the help documentation, modern interface, and occasional database updates.
I love this planning app. I don't use it exclusively, but it has features that are better than other planning apps, such as getting quick glimpses of the moon cycle, blue hour and Milky Way visibility. The recently added panorama calculation tool is awesome! *Update 4/11/24. Want to reiterate the user-friendly quick glimpses of settings provided in this app vs others. Quickly and easily obtained imaging settings for the solar eclipse on 4/8/24. Intuitive interface. Kudos, to the developer!

Thank you very much Derek!
I really like the DOF calculation and the flash photography calcs. It allows you to enter cameras and lenses not already in the database (and you will probably have to do that. But fortunately, it's easy to do. It came with the Olympus lenses of the DSLR 14 - 54 and the m43s 12-40 f/2.8, I had to enter all my other lenses, including my small fleet of Canon FL legacy lenses. It had all the Oly cameras I needed, but lacked the E-M5 III, again, easy to add. To avoid wading through the camera and lens database, the program allows you to identify up to 3 cameras and 6 lenses as favorites, making switching between the favorites fast and easy. For me, the biggest negative was the web-based help screens. They oddly, I thought, gave you lots of pretty good background information, but I thought were a little skimpy on immediate instructions on why and how to use the tools. I've got a lot of years in photography, including formal USAF training, so for me, it wasn't a significant problem. But for Newbies, I think the instructions might be a bit confusing. Well worth the $1.99 I spent on it.

Thank you very much Glen for this very detailed comment. I've noted the improvements that you indicate and I'll see how to do it.
I purchased Photographer's Companion Pro for the dof feature, that in itself is worth the small amount I paid. After spending more time with the app I found so much other functionality that before I have also had to calculate manually. I give this 5 stars because of the intuitive interface and the richness of the functionality. I have a lot more to explore but I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks Doug!
This is an update on my earlier review. It's taken a few more days to figure the app out. The reflected light (camera) feature is where I was getting permission errors. But my Galaxy S9 has a light sensor and that feature is designed for cameras that don't have one. Everything is working, the calibration feature a plus. I'm still on the learning curb. The app has a lot to offer and will be using it often. Video tutorials would be a plus for an app with this level of depth.
Developer response:
Can you contact me by email? It will be easier to solve your problem. [email protected] Make me a screenshot of the message and permissions of the app. Thanks.
Oh wow! I came across this app after trying three others. Based on the positive reviews, I decided to spring for the Pro version. I was immediately surprised to see the latest Nikon Z cameras in the database! The interface is great, and the app has a wealth of features.

Thank you very much for your comment!
I wanted to take my photography to the next level without paying for an app like Photopills. I'm especially interested in the DoF and hyperfocal capabilities, with the visual diagrams. If I had one thing to say I got a bit confused with the different colours detailing the distances. I'd also like to see a separate tab for hyperfocal distances instead of just a reference in the DoF tab. However, this is still a great app for a fraction of the cost of PhotoPills. Highly recommend
Developer response:
Thank you Lorna for your comment! I take note of your remark to separate the hyperfocal.
Really handy app! Well worth the €2. If there's something you can't figure out or like to know more, there's even a help page to describe all the functions. Now how many apps in the play store have that! I've been a casual photographer for almost 2 decades but it's still nice to have a quick reference like this in stead of trying things in the field. You'll know what I mean once your trying to get the perfect moon shot (or any other shot) when suddenly the weather changes!!
Developer response:
Thank you very much Kurt!
I rarely buy premium apps on Android but this one is definitely worth the money. It's like having a dozen of different apps and websites combined into one light app. Really nicely executed and well thought. It also seems that it's updated frequently with new stuff being added every time, so you definitely won't be dissatisfied with this purchase. 5/5 👏
Developer response:
Thank you very much Bogumil for your support and all the praise for my work.
This is like a Swiss army knife for photography. Great app with all sorts of useful tools built in such as a bubble level, flashlight as well as a planner to track the sun & moon with golden-hour, twilight etc. This is for the Pro-Version. There are some better focused apps for certain items however this as a great all in one app.
Developer response:
Thank you very much Paul!
Excellent application for visualising lens adjustments and effect on depth of field and hyperfocal distance. Lots of useful features for astrophotographers and useful calculators for traditional photography enthusiasts. The developer is extremely helpful with any questions you may have on using the application should the extensive integrated online help system not provide information you are seeking.
Developer response:
Thanks you very much Neil!
